ANNUAL REPORT

NEW HOPE'S ACTIVITIES APRIL 2010 - 2011

The Past Year:

In its first year of operation, New Hope has sent three shipments of clothing, educational resources, toys, books, disability aids,  and Christmas gifts to the three groups
of children New Hope support in Zimbabwe.

To date, New Hope has relied on individual cash donations/standing orders and donations of unwanted items - which have either been put aside for shipment to Zimbabwe, or sold at local events to raise money to pay for the shipment of goods.  Members have sometimes joined together to raise money; at other times individuals have held small events in their local area.

Key individuals have contributed their skills and knowledge to this voluntary group, like Jean Chettle who has set up and managed our website: www.newhopenortheast.org.uk, and Jenni Old who designed our logo (top left).   All of the above contributions have enabled New Hope to help more than 30 children living in poverty in Zimbabwe.

Looking to The Future:

In order to secure the future of New Hope and sustain our help to the orphaned children at Chibano and Warren Park;  and the disabled children and their carers in Harare, the Management Committee have been working with Samouka Dore from the Regional Refugee Forum North East.    With Sam's help and advice, New Hope now has a constitutional document in place - essential for future funding applications.

As many funders require a commitment to local as well as global communities, New Hope has reflected this in its constitutional objectives, and funding applications for specific projects will reflect this.

New Hope are currently in conversation with individuals at a Newcastle Quaker Meeting House with a view to learning from their charity expertise.   If others, with particular skills, knowledge, relevant expertise have time to offer help to New Hope,  it would be most welcome.
